Do Guests Need to Bring Gifts for a Vow Renewal Ceremony?

Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Hilaria Baldwin are all doing vow renewals. It’s easy to see why Hollywood couples love the idea of vow renewals. It is not normal for you to bring a gift.

A vow renewal is a completely different experience than a wedding. Although more couples are now living together in the same space, many of their guests have bought them gifts to help them set up a new home. Even if they have been married for a while, a husband and wife will already have a home and won’t require any gifts to renew their vows. Some couples opt for a no-gifts policy by printing “no gifts please” on their invitations.

If you wanted to give them something…

You could pool your money and purchase the couple something such as a weekend at a romantic lodge, or spa day. Avoid gifting them with household items, as they likely already have enough china and cookware at home. You don’t have to gift the couple a bunch of household items. Instead, gift them a bottle of wine, a gift certificate to a local restaurant, or a manicure and pedicure. You should not bring the gift to the renewal ceremony, but rather send it to your loved one’s home.

You can make a donation in their honor if neither of these options feels right.

A couple can make a difference by contributing to charity, whether it is political, health, or educational. It will be appreciated and help the world become a better place.
